Regeneration of Transgenic Ficus lyrata via Indirect Somatic Embryogenesis and Isolation of Variants for Development of New Cultivars

Ficus lyrata is a popular ornamental foliage plant with unique violin- or guitar-shaped green leaves. In our previous study, grapevine gene VvMybA1 was introduced into F. via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation, which resulted in the availability of purple-leaved plants. Since transcription factor, regeneration transgenic plants might potentially produce variants multicolored The objective this study to establish method for regenerating and determine if different coloration variegation could be isolated from regenerated populations. Leaf explants derived completely were cultured on Murashige Skoog (MS) basal medium supplemented concentrations 6-benzyladenine (BA) α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA).
